"Spouse or Others of Permanent Resident" Visa 

"Spouse or Others of Permanent Resident" visa is categorized in Group II defined in Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act ("ICRRA", hereafter). 

I. Status or Position to be held in Japan  

a spouse of a permanent resident or others or who was born as a child of a permanent resident or others and has lived in Japan consecutively since then

II. Granted Period of Stay 

5 years, 3 years, 1 year or 6 months

III. Conditions to be Permitted 

A. Applied activities are not false. 

B. Applied activities coincide with activities defined for each visa in ICRRA.

IV. Documents Required to Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility or Change of Visa

A. the following, if a spouse of a "Permanent Resident" or a "Extra Permanent Resident"

(a). a document which certifies the relation between the applicant and the "Permanent Resident" or the "Extra Permanent Resident"

(b). a copy of a residence card or a passport, of the "Permanent Resident" or the "Extra Permanent Resident"

(c). a document which certifies the occupation and income of the applicant or the spouse

(d). a letter of personal reference by the "Permanent Resident" or the "Extra Permanent Resident" who resides in Japan

B. the following,  if a son or a daughter of a "Permanent Resident" or a "Extra Permanent Resident"

(a). a certificate of birth or any other document which certifies the relation of the applicant and the parent

(b). a copy of a residence card or a passport, of the "Permanent Resident" or the "Extra Permanent Resident"

(c). a certificate of the occupation and incomes on the applicant, its father or its mother

V. Documents Required to Apply for Extension of Visa

A. a documents which certifies the relation between the applicant and the spouse, if the applicant is a spouse of a permanent resident

B. a copy of a residence card or passport of the permanent resident

C. certificates of the occupation and incomes of the applicant, the spouse, the father or the mother of the applicant

D. C. a letter of personal reference by the spouse who lives in Japan if the applicant is a spouse of a permanent resident, or a letter of personal reference of the parent or other person who lives in Japan if the applicant is a son or a daughter of a permanent resident
