"Business Manager" Visa

"Business Manager" visa is categorized in Tier II of Group I defined in Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act ("ICRRA", hereafter). 

I. Granted Activities 

activities of management or supervision of trade or other business in Japan, other than activities of "Lawyer / Accountant" which require licenses legally

II. Granted Period of Stay 

5 years, 3 years, 1 year or 3 months

III. Conditions to be Permitted 

A. Applied activities are not false. 

B. Applied activities coincide with activities defined for each visa in ICRRA.

It is also required to meet the followings, or so called " Criteria of Permits for Landing" as "Business Manager" is categorized in Tier II of Group I:

A. The applicant should correspond to each of the following:

a) The office where the business applied for should exist in Japan.

If the business has not been started, the facility for the expected office should be kept in Japan.

b) The scale of the business should correspond to one of the below:

1. The business shall be operated with two or more full time worker other than the manager, the supervisor or the applicant.

2. The amount of the capital money of the company operating the business or the total amount of the equity investment should be five million JPY or more.

3. It can be recognized that the scale of the business should be treated as the same as 1 or 2.

c) The applicant should have experienced management or supervision of business for three years or more, including terms of majoring management or supervision at a graduate school and shall receive wages of more than or equal to the same range of the wages which Japanese supervisor can receive, if the applicant is to be engaged in supervision of the business. 

IV. Documents Required to Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility or Change of Visa

A. each of the following materials:
(a) copy of the business plan

(b) a copy of a certificate of registration of corporation or institution, if the business shall be executed by a corporation or an institution or a copy of a bylaw or any other documents showing that the business shall be executed by a corporation or an institution, if the registration has not completed yet

(c) a copy of income statement or any other same kind of document, unless the business has not been started yet

B. one of the following materials:
(a) a material which clarifies number of full time worker except for the applicant

also, if the workers are more than  or equal to two, a document which shows the payroll and copies of certificates of residence, residence cards or certificates of extra permanent residence
(b) a material which clarifies amounts of the capital money or total amounts of the equity
(c) other materials which clarify the scale of the business
C. a material which clarifies the summary of the business

D. a document which certifies the contents, terms, the position and wages of the activities 

E. a document which certifies the career and a certificate which certifies terms of studying management or supervision in a graduate school, if to be engaged in supervision of the business 

V. Documents Required to Apply for Extension of Visa

A. an income statement of the business which is managed or supervised

B. one the below:

(a) a material which clarifies number of full time worker except for the applicant

also, if the workers are more than  or equal to two, a document which shows the payroll and copies of certificates of residence, residence cards or certificates of extra permanent residence

(b) a material which clarifies amounts of the capital money or total amounts of the equity

(c) other materials which clarify the scale of the business

C. a document which certifies the contents, terms and the position of the activities

D. a certificate of annual incomes and paid taxes
